Dedicated to the dissemination of scholarly and professional information, the Press provides quality resources in several key subject areas including business, technology, health, veterinary sciences, and other selected disciplines in the humanities and sciences. An editorial board of Purdue faculty members is responsible for the imprint of the Press and meets twice a semester to consider manuscripts and proposals, and guide the editorial program. Purdue University Press is a member of the Association of University Presses.
27. St. Augustine’s Press
St. Augustine’s Press was founded in December 1996 with the mission of publishing outstanding scholarly works, principally in the fields of philosophy, theology, and cultural and intellectual history. There was, and is, no university or foundation behind us, no endowment for financial comfort. I do not want to give the impression that that state of affairs is cause for joy or pride. In fact, it has but one positive aspect: it forces us to be true to our mission, to fix our plans on constant improvement, and to listen to our authors and readers. If we fail in this responsibility, we will fail indeed.I had worked for years in trade publishing, where I stupidly tried to discern the Great American Market, publishing works that I thought would have a demand that I could fill. I failed in that, as almost all do who try to live under the illusion that you know the intricacies of the incredibly vibrant and dynamic American intellectual life. When I started St. Augustine’s Press said to my wife, the only boss I have, that I would publish books I wanted to read and hope that I am not alone.
28. Trafford Publishing
1995 marked a publishing industry revolution. Trafford defied popular belief by introducing “on-demand book publishing services.” This pioneering innovation marked the dawn of the Independent Book Publishing Industry. Fast forward fifteen years, and 2009’s self-published books significantly outnumbered works released by traditional publishing houses, accounting for more than 70% of the year’s 1 million plus titles. Trafford, self-publishing’s founding father, is proud to have been the spark that ignited a revolution giving voice to hundreds of thousands of authors. These very same authors would have been resigned to silence in the not too distant past.
Trafford’s inspiration stems from a genuine belief in our authors. More than 16,000 writers from over 120 countries have realized their dream of publication with Trafford as their publishing partner. Our goal is to provide the ultimate publishing experience producing the definitive book born of a vivid imagination. This authometric motivation means that we are continually evaluating, adapting and developing our services, fuelled by author feedback.
We all want and need validation. As writers, the best validation that can be received is a positive book review. Manuscripts of authors who purchase our Gold Seal Premium service will be submitted to the industry’s highly respected independent book reviewing companies.

30. Balboa Press
Think of self-publishing as the middle ground. It's not up to you to do everything yourself (DIY), and it's not traditional publishing—we don't buy the rights to your book and make all the decisions from there. It's a relationship. We help you publish the book you want to bring into the world. We work together to bring your vision to life and make something great. So, Balboa Press is a self-publishing company specialising in self-help titles that inspire and enlighten readers. We help you publish your self-help book by providing bundles of services called publishing packages. You choose a package and we work with you to fulfill all the services included. At the end of the process, you hold a finished book in your hand and become something brand new: a published author. In addition, we're a division of Hay House, a New Thought and self-help traditional publisher founded in 1984 by author Louise Hay. This means our authors receive the added benefits of our partnership. There are special Hay House events Balboa Press authors get to participate in and Hay House monitors Balboa Press books for possible acquisition. Balboa Press also has publishing opportunities for authors in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
