A Little Bit About Me
Hi! My name is Libby Welman, and I am a current undergraduate student at the University of Tampa studying both writing and economics. As one might be able to tell from my chosen areas of study, I have a strong predilection for both creativity and logic. Combining these two areas has sparked my interest in the publishing industry because I believe that such an industry would allow me to join forces with both creative and critical thinkers alike. Working in an area that gives me the ability to be surrounded by people who have a diverse range of skill sets is something that I believe is very important to both the success of a business and the academic growth of its employees.
I enjoy all types of writing whether that be fiction, screenwriting, poetry, or academic writing. During my first year of college, my research paper, The Cost of Optimism: How the Brain’s Hardwired Positivity is Detrimental to Financial Success, was nominated to be potentially published in Royal Road, one of the University of Tampa’s academic journals.
I have had an abundance of experience with writing, particularly in workshop classes, which have provided me with skills such as researching, editing, and analyzing, as well as collaborating with a creative team. Outside of classes, I have also had the opportunity to have a role as an editing intern for the local literary magazine, Tampa Review. Having my writing published has always been a goal of mine, and while that’s the case, I would be equally as thrilled to help others reach their own writing goals.
