How Large Publishers are Responding to the Growing Demand for Diverse Books

Large publishers are responding to the growing demand for diverse books by increasing their acquisition and promotion of books by and about marginalized communities. This includes increasing the number of books by authors of color, LGBTQ+ authors, and authors with disabilities. Additionally, many publishers are also making a concerted effort to diversify their staff and publishing teams to better reflect the communities they serve. They are also creating new imprints and lines that focus specifically on marginalized voices and perspectives. Some of them are also developing mentorship programs and other initiatives to support underrepresented authors.
