Greetings! I’m Josie Flancbaum. I live in Suprise, AZ with my hunk of a husband and my three fun-loving, messy kids. I have been working as a nurse for eleven years and have whittled my way down to part time. When I am not at work, I enjoy doing activities outside with my family, walking, petting my dogs, watching movies, reading, and, of course, writing.
I would describe myself as uber educated with two, count ‘em, two bachelor's
degrees. I received a BA in English in 2004 and a BS in Nursing in 2012. My first career choice was teaching, which I enjoyed for 4 years. I decided it was time to try something new and started my career in nursing at Children’s Hospital of Colorado in 2013. While
both careers are fulfilling and have been good to me, something seems to be missing:
my passion.
I have carried a monumental love of literature and a strong heart for writing all my life. I
chose to follow a more “realistic” path as I pressed on through adulthood, yet that
passion has always nudged at me. Realizing that my fire was not dissipating, but
burning stronger, I knew I could not ignore its pull any longer. I dipped my toe into writing just recently, publishing various articles about spirituality and health in my neighborhood magazine, The Front Porch. I am also a proud first time author of my children’s book, The A&A Twins: Gotcha Day. I hope to continue to add more and more to my writing experience with each coming year.
My pie-in-the-sky goal is to be a successful novelist, particularly of young adult
literature. I have worked with children in both my careers, and I observe how important it
is for them to have a friend in the characters I create as well as a beautiful, exciting
world in which to escape. I am excited to bring charismatic characters to life and untold
adventures to the surface.
