Until recently, black people did not have a viable option for publishing. However, the rise of self-publishing and digital technologies have created new opportunities for black writers and publishers to market their books. This is especially true for aspiring authors with an African American heritage.
Tamika D. Mallory's debut novel
Having been on the front lines of revolutionary movements for years, Tamika Danielle Mallory is now bringing her fight against racial injustice to the literary world. In her debut novel, State of Emergency, Mallory provides an indictment of the United States' assault on Black lives. A masterful political performance, the book also explores American systemic racism, offering equity-centered pathways forward.
In a remarkably honest and unflinching style, Mallory explores her experiences as an activist, revealing personal scars and a personal ethos. While her message is not inclusive to everyone, it is a thought-provoking and powerful polemic. The book will provide a vision for meaningful, lasting change.
Mallory's activism has earned her a place in the TIME 100, and her work has helped to influence a new generation of activists. She has also been recognized as a Coretta Scott King Legacy Award winner. She co-founded Until Freedom, a non-profit organization that serves as a clearinghouse for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals, attorneys, artists, and organizers.
She is a public speaker, an expert on criminal justice reform, and a proponent of gun control. In her debut novel, State of Emergency, she explores how effective activism can make a difference. Her book will include forewords from several influential voices, including Cardi B, Linda Sarsour, and Angela Davis.
She is a social justice leader and activist who has helped organize the 2017 Women's March, a record-setting event. She was also named to the TIME 100 in 2018.
She is the founder of Until Freedom and a proponent of gun control. She is also a long-time proponent of feminism. She has appeared on the "Street Politicians" podcast on iHeart Radio. She has also been featured on Fortune's list of the World's Greatest Leaders. She was a founding member of the National Action Network, and she served as the organization's youngest executive director.
She co-founded the Women's March on Washington, and was a leading organizer. She has also been a vocal critic of President Trump, stating that he is "an ignoramus and a liar" who lacks "sympathy or respect for the plight of the poor and oppressed". She is an expert on grassroots organizing and has worked with dozens of organizations to promote racial justice and equal rights.
Charlamagne Tha God's struggle with mental health
Known as a multimedia mogul, Charlamagne Tha God has been vocal about his struggle with mental health. He has used his platform to increase awareness about the need for better care. He has even created a charitable organization that provides mental health resources to the masses.
Charlamagne tha God has been known to go all out in his efforts to help others. He has even launched his own nonprofit organization, the Mental Wealth Alliance, which aims to change the conversation about mental health in the Black community. He has partnered with other Black-led organizations to raise $100 million over the next five years. In the process, he has become a mental health advocate in his own right.
Charlamagne's accomplishments include being a part of a slew of media outlets, including his syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club, which has over 4.5 million daily listeners. He also is the recipient of the Radio Hall of Fame's prestigious award. In addition, he is a best-selling author. His book, The Shook One, was a huge hit and launched him into the mental health advocate category.
His other notable accomplishments include being a major player in the music industry and being one of the few celebrity figures to speak out about his own mental health struggles. He was diagnosed with anxiety and panic attacks and went to therapy. He credited his success to his book and the advice of his therapist.
He has also been named in the top 10 of Forbes magazine's list of best rappers and best hip-hop artists. He is also the co-host of the hottest radio show in the U.S., The Breakfast Club, and is a self-proclaimed fan of President Trump. His latest endeavor is to host the annual Mental Health Expo, a free event that he plans to hold in New York City.
He has been on the receiving end of the wrath of both a fan and his own family. He has been fired four times in his career. But he sees it as a learning experience. Ultimately, Charlamagne's most important lesson is that no matter what happens, he is not the only person who has suffered from mental health issues.
Charlamagne's plans to develop original IP
Whether he's slinging cocktails at the Oscars or penning another bestseller, Charlamagne tha God is a force to be reckoned with. In the past 12 months alone, the prolific author has landed a contract with The Breakfast Club and iHeartRadio, forged a multi-year partnership with Audible and launched a global multi-project collaboration with the likes of comedian Kevin Hart. With plans to rebrand and expand upon his already sizable portfolio, he's not going to be resting on his laurels anytime soon.
For starters, the biggest news is that Charlamagne has a grand plan for his media empire. As for what's on the horizon, the multi-pronged media empire includes a slate of original content that will make its debut over the next two years. As for what is to come, the big reveal is that it will be anchored by three new production houses, including the previously mentioned SBH Productions.
Not content to leave the realm of the screen, the mega-producer has also branched out into the world of podcasting, with a slate of original programming set to debut on the fledgling Audible.com later this year. The aforementioned SBH Productions has been given the green light for its audio-centric projects and will be headed by Nicole Shelton, who was previously the chief scribe of iHeartRadio's Slurpee and Slurpee. Besides podcasting, Charlamagne tha God has also partnered with comic book developer AWA Studios and Audible to bring you some of the biggest names in the business. He's also been tasked with making sure that the big daddy of them all, his already sizable Hollywood back catalog, is not left in the dust by the next wave of digital media pioneers.
