A Little Bit About Me
Hi, my name is Devon! I love reading and all genres of books. I recently graduated and I am looking to pursue a career relating to publishing.
What is your educational background, and how has it shaped your interest in writing and publishing?
I graduated last May from California State University Long Beach with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. I believe management plays a crucial role in publishing and I specifically am interested in being a managerial editor. I have always loved reading and I grew up editing my sisters and friends' English essays for them. With my degree now I want to get a job at a publishing company and learn as much as I can.
What inspired you to pursue an internship with Alpha Book Publisher, and what are your expectations for this experience?
I want to learn as much about publishing as possible. I am not very familiar with the industry but I love books and having a small part in getting them produced would be an amazing experience and very exciting.
Are there any specific genres or topics you are passionate about? How do you see yourself contributing to the publishing industry in these areas?
I am very interested in cookbooks right now but I read all genres of books so I would love to learn more about the different process for different genres of books. For example the difference in publishing a children's book or an art book or a science based book.
What are your long-term career goals in the publishing field? How do you envision yourself making a significant impact in the industry?
I want to help others get their books out into the world. I want to play a supporting role in helping authors get their world to the public. I hope to learn about all aspects of this field and become a reliable source for authors.
Have you had any prior writing or publishing experiences? If so, how have they influenced your passion and aspirations?
I do not have any prior writing or publishing experiences. I have previously and currently volunteer at my local library. However, I am very new to this field. I am passionate about books though and I read a lot.
Are there any notable achievements, awards, or recognition you have received related to your writing or publishing endeavors?
I have not received any achievements related to publishing or writing, but I endeavor to do so.
