It is generally easier to sell a novel than a screenplay, for a few reasons. First, there are more outlets for novels than there are for screenplays. Novels can be published as physical books or e-books, and they can also be self-published. In contrast, screenplays are typically only sold to production companies or studios, which are much fewer in number and have more selective criteria for what they will produce. Additionally, there are many more novels published each year than there are movies produced, so the competition is much greater for screenplays. Finally, the process of getting a novel published or self-published is often less complicated than the process of getting a screenplay produced, which can involve multiple levels of review and approval.
