Accelerate Learning
Several years ago, a Houston-based company called Accelerate Learning began to develop a set of math book publishing products. The company's growth was founded on a goal to improve educational outcomes at a lower cost. Several years later, the company was acquired by the Carlyle Group, a global investment firm.
As a result, the company has grown to more than six million students and 600,000 teachers. Many of the largest school districts in the country are now part of the Accelerate Learning family. In December of 2018, the Carlyle Group acquired Accelerate Learning. The company will now launch Common Core versions in the coming years.
Accelerate Learning has also partnered with Rice University. The two organizations are co-developing STEMscopes Math, a curriculum aimed at making math relevant to young learners.
STEMscopes Math combines digital and print components to encourage exploration, open-ended tasks, and real-world learning. It uses the Concrete Representational Abstract (CRA) approach, which aims to make math meaningful for young learners.
STEMscopes DIVE-in Engineering Kits are also available. These kits help teachers engage students in weekly design challenges. They can also be used as supplementary instructional materials. There are currently only two companies approved to publish accelerated math textbooks. Those are Accelerate Learning and Savvas Interactive Curriculum Company. However, a spokesperson from the Department of Education said that more books could be added to the adoption list.

The International Press of Boston
The International Press of Boston is an academic publishing company that produces high-quality books and journals in the area of mathematics. Its titles include two annual books, several long-running book series, and 20 peer-reviewed e-journals.
