Top Book Publishers in Urumqi

In the past five to 10 years, Chinese book publishing has seen an unprecedented growth. A number of prominent publishers emerged from various sectors.

There are many publishers specializing in the publishing of social science books and classics. These books cover philosophy, politics, economics, military affairs, languages, history, and geography.

People’s Literature Publishing House

Located in the west section of Liu Li Chang Street outside of the He Ping Men (Peace Gate), People’s Literature Publishing House is a world-renowned Chinese cultural establishment. Its specialized line of business includes books and pamphlets, as well as brush, ink stick, ink-stone, paper and antiques.

The company publishes a variety of literary, scientific and social works. It also produces a number of magazines, newspapers and electronic products. Its publications have received a number of awards, including the National Book Award, China Book Award, and the National Award for Best Sellers.

One of its most popular publications is The Queen’s Gambit, a collection of classical poetry written by a 16-year-old teenager. It won the praise of famous professors, such as Liu Yongxiang, Chen Kejian, and Liu Dong.

Another one of its most renowned books is a collection of revolutionary poems written since the May Fourth Movement of 1919. It features over 170 poems by more than 120 writers, including representative works that produced great impact in each revolutionary historical period with their inspiring power.

It also focuses on the history of the Left-wing Writers Alliance. It depicts the passionate struggles of this group and portrays many famous writers, such as Lu Xun, Mao Dun, Feng Xuefeng, Pan Hannian, Xia Yan and Ding Ling.

The company publishes a wide range of books, from classical and contemporary literature to children’s books. It also offers a wide range of services, such as copyright and book import and export. Its publications are sold at various outlets across the country.

Jindun (Golden Shield) Publishing House

In addition to its main headquarters in Beijing, Jindun (Golden Shield) Publishing House has branches all over China. It also has a national distribution network and sells its books through its own chain stores and online bookstores.

The company publishes a wide range of genres including science, technology, medicine, architecture and art, travel and tourism, and lifestyle. It also distributes foreign literature and is an authorized Chinese publisher of the Harry Potter series.

Some of the most popular titles published by the Jindun group include Notes from Mountains, The Horse Whisperer (translation), and Sophie’s World. These titles sold seven million copies each and were very popular with readers living in rural areas.

Aside from traditional art books, the market has grown to include more lifestyle titles such as self-help books and health and fitness guides. There are 20,000 different titles available, many of which have become bestsellers.

Another highly competitive field is professional publishing which is divided into engineering and electronics, machine building, and architecture. Major publishers in this field include China Machine Press, China Architecture and Building Press, Shanghai Scientific and Technical Publishers, and Liaoning Science and Technology Publishing House.

In the science and technology field, Chinese publishers have made good progress in acquiring the translation rights to popular books such as The Universe in a Nutshell by Stephen W. Hawking to catch the “Hawking fever” in China.

China Education Publishing House

The China Education Publishing House is a prominent educational publishing company with the largest back catalog in China. It publishes books and educational materials for children as well as a variety of journals. It has also specialized in electronic and audio-visual products. It is one of the largest publishing companies in China and has won a series of national awards for its educational publications.

In 2002, the People’s Education Press (PEP) was established and has since published over 500 books for elementary and secondary schools that are in widespread use nationwide. They include history and English textbooks that have been developed according to the curriculum standards for compulsory education. The PEP has also been awarded hundreds of national and provincial awards for its teaching materials.

Besides the printing of textbooks, the People’s Education Press has been involved in several supplementary businesses, including import and export of books, website construction, internet publishing, and logistics service. It has also published a number of popular science titles such as A Brief History of Time and The Universe in a Nutshell.

It is also a major contributor to public welfare, donating thousands of yuan’s worth of books to poverty-stricken counties in China. It has a strong reputation as a high-quality, professional publisher and has forged partnerships with a number of international publishers.

Among the top book publishers in Urumqi, the China Education Publishing House has the largest back catalog and produces over 500 titles annually. It has translated and published the works of many Chinese literary authors as well as several foreign writers. For example, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare and Honore de Balzac have been translated into Chinese. It has also published numerous multi-volume series and important books.

China Machine Press

The China Machine Press (CMP) is the largest publishing group in China, spanning multiple fields and disciplines. Its core competitive advantages include innovative business strategy and management concepts, rigorous publishing standards and high product quality. Its business model is to combine research, publishing, training, issuing and distribution into one large-scale, comprehensive and specialized enterprise.

CMP’s product line includes industrial technology, science and engineering books and periodicals, as well as magazines and other e-media. Its ten titles have a combined circulation of over 100,000 copies per day and are among the most popular publications in their field in China.

Its headquarters are in World Industrial Park, Danyang City, and its main product is metal forming machine tools. The company is also a renowned supplier of stamping equipment, including mechanical and power presses, die forging machines, powder forming machines and fine blanking machines.

The Chinese market for fast machining services has grown dramatically over the past several years. With improved communication channels, lower labor costs and low raw material prices, companies are now able to produce products at much lower costs than in the past.

While China’s industrial machinery industry is still young, it has already developed an impressive range of machine tools. Some of the top manufacturers include YADON, a major manufacturer of metal forming machine tools and stamping equipment.

In addition to its core product line, YADON has also become an expert in rapid prototyping technologies and services. For example, its Rapid Direct service is a surprisingly effective way to create prototypes at a fraction of the cost of traditional methods.

The top ten publishers in terms of copyright imports in 2004 were China Renmin University Press, China Machine Press, Peking University Medical Press, China Electric Power Press, World Books Publishing Corporation, Shanghai Translation Publishing House, China Light Industry Publishing House, China CITIC Press and Commercial Press. It’s the best known Chinese manufacturer of the mechanical press.

China Architecture and Building Press

A leading publisher of academic and practical books, CDs and other educational materials on Chinese architecture, urban planning, civil engineering and design. The Press publishes over 20 titles per year, covering topics such as architecture, landscape and garden, construction technology, architecture history, architectural theory, and building economics and management.

China is home to a rich architectural tradition that dates back more than 5,000 years. Among its most impressive buildings are walled cities, imperial palaces and pagodas. Today, the nation is undergoing rapid urbanization and massive building projects.

Contemporary architects in China seek to communicate their country’s unique culture through their designs. These designs often combine modern and traditional styles.

While many Chinese buildings are rooted in their place and time, the country is also a playground for international design influences. Twenty-six projects in this book show the diverse output of China’s contemporary architectural scene.

The authors describe how Chinese architects have responded to these influences and the challenges that they face in their designs. They also explore the unique characteristics of Chinese architecture that distinguish it from other regional schools.

Rather than following the same design and building traditions that have defined Chinese buildings for centuries, these architects have been able to develop a new generation of contemporary architecture. The result is a unique body of work that cannot be compared to any other school of architecture in China.

The Society for the Study of Chinese Architecture in 1927 recruited Liang Sicheng, a modern architect who studied at the University of Pennsylvania, to interpret the building manual Ying Zao Fa Shi (Buildings in Ancient China). This text, considered the most important primary source on Chinese architecture, was produced by scholars from the United States and Japan.
